Creating a difference through empowered partnerships | Infrastructure news

Learners from Laerskool Noord (Red School), situated in Phalaborwa, recently celebrated the official opening of three new mobile classrooms.

The classrooms, which were provided by the Department of Education, were equipped by the multi award winning engineering consulting firm Knight Piesold (KP) in partnership with Foskor.

For the classrooms to be usable, they required air conditioning, electrical installations as well as desks and chairs.  Foskor was responsible for the air conditioning and electricals for all mobile classrooms and KP provided all the desks and chairs.

By these two companies coming together they were able to provide the school with 3 fully equipped mobile classrooms that will be fully utilised in 2019.

Vishal Haripersad, MD of Knight Piésold told the Herald when approached to partner with Foskor: “We saw this opportunity as an investment to uplift and create a difference, which is key in our current Corporate Social Investment Project called Bokomoso which means ‘Their Future’”.

Developing the next generation of engineers

KP has focused on developing the next generation of South African engineers through investments at high schools throughout South Africa.  Laerskool Noord is the first primary school they have invested in and are excited to have partnered with Foskor to make a bigger difference and create a bigger change within the Phalaborwa Community.

Dumisani Mkodwane, from Foskor told the Phalaborwa Herald that, “Partnering with KP has provided an opportunity to offer more assistance than we could do on our own.  This project will help to increase the intake of the school and we are glad to be part of this”, he said.
