Energy and water supplies at the Emthonjeni Community Centre have received a much needed boost thanks to a donation from Sasol Energy.
The company has installed solar power panels and a borehole pump at the centre in the interest of fostering socio-economic development and investing in community infrastructure. The initiative forms part of an extension of the company’s three-year relationship with the community centre. Commenting on the donation Christopher Kabosha, Senior Manager: Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Sasol Energy noted that securing sustainable water use was critical for development: “Water is one of the most important substances on Earth hence our investment to secure a sustainable use of water at Emthonjeni Community Centre, he said.Kabosha added: “This partnership aims to enhance quality support that will impact approximately 80 000 residents in Zandspruit.”
Louise Rivett a representative from the Emthonjeni Community Centre’s explained that Sasol’s investment would have a great impact. “Valuable support from Sasol further assists Emthonjeni Community Centre with its efforts to alleviate social economic challenges in Zandspruit. We believe that Sasol’s investment will have a long lasting and sustainable impact for generations to come.” The company has also demonstrated its continued commitment to development and education in the community through sponsoring a 12-month literature and mathematics web-based training programme for learners at the centres.
