The Deep Water Movement is a non-profit organisation that shakes people into action regarding water. They boldly declare, “If one person doesn’t have safe clean water, then we all don’t have safe clean water” a wake-up call to remember that water is a human right.
This NPO is a sister organisation to the incredibly successful Hennops Revival, which tackled pollution and helped clean up the Hennops River, one of the largest rivers in Gauteng. These two projects are the brainchild of Tarryn Johnston, whose childhood memories of nature fuel her desire for change. She epitomises the fact that one person can try to make a difference. The Deep Water Movement grew out of a necessity to broaden the Hennops Revival NPO’s objectives. Her work with Hennops gave her insight into a deeper need for more action across South Africa. She notes, “Through Deep Water Movement we aim to Empower more people, in more places to do more, and save more waterbodies, streamline processes, target early intervention and mass action.” Incredibly, all the profit these organisations make is donated to the communities they help.Deep Water Movement: A Crisis Intervention Convention
