Deep Water Movement: A Crisis Intervention Convention | Infrastructure news

The Deep Water Movement is a non-profit organisation that shakes people into action regarding water. They boldly declare, “If one person doesn’t have safe clean water, then we all don’t have safe clean water” a wake-up call to remember that water is a human right.

This NPO is a sister organisation to the incredibly successful Hennops Revival, which tackled pollution and helped clean up the Hennops River, one of the largest rivers in Gauteng. These two projects are the brainchild of Tarryn Johnston, whose childhood memories of nature fuel her desire for change. She epitomises the fact that one person can try to make a difference.

The Deep Water Movement grew out of a necessity to broaden the Hennops Revival NPO’s objectives. Her work with Hennops gave her insight into a deeper need for more action across South Africa. She notes, “Through Deep Water Movement we aim to Empower more people, in more places to do more, and save more waterbodies, streamline processes, target early intervention and mass action.”

Incredibly, all the profit these organisations make is donated to the communities they help.

A call to action

We need more action to clean up South Africa’s rivers

Creating the action the organisation wants, the Deep Water Movement is hosting a ‘Crisis Intervention Convention’ to help address the water, waste, and energy crisis. The conference will take place on the 5th and 6th of September 2024.

The conference will centre around the burning question: How Much Does It Really Cost? And Do We Have the Time to Pay It Back? Evaluating how the crisis started, where it stands and how to address it. This conference is solution-driven and designed to equip decision-makers from the private sector with crucial insights into the pressing issues of water, waste and energy crises. This event compels participation and actively drives the change essential for South Africa’s future.

There is an incredible lineup of speakers and panels, with 40 industry leaders and 20 solution providers attending.
