Angola gives large sum of money towards solid waste management | Infrastructure news

The Angolan government has allocated three billion Kwanzas (R335 million) for solid waste management.

The money will be granted to the central Bengula Province for the collection, transportation and deposit of solid waste.

The provincial governor of Benguela, Isaac Maria dos Anjos, said the current situation of companies which are involved in the collection and cleaning of the coastal cities of Benguela Province must be nominalised.

According to dos Anjos, the companies currently involved in rubbish collection are operating illegally, without contracts approved by the Audit Court. He said that the companies have been informed that it would be unsustainable for the authorities to continue with the same contractual model.
