The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department is expediting the roll-out of its pressure management programme in response to the unprecedented drought.

The City on Tuesday released a statement notifying residents of Kenridge, Protea Heights, Montague Gardens, Table View, Parklands, Sunningdale, Welgemoed and Mountainside that it would be rolling out pressure management technology in these areas in order to lower consumption by reducing the rate at which water flows to properties.

The programme will also reduce leaks and pipe bursts by better ensuring that pressure remains within levels that the pipework can tolerate, and reduces the rate of loss from leaks and bursts.

The City has urged residents to remain aware of their water pressure and should they experience low water pressure or intermittent supply disruptions to contact the City.

“At all times careful consideration will be given to ensure minimal disruption to the water supply. The City regrets any inconvenience caused,” the City added.
