Johannesburg mayor, Herman Mashaba, will officially hand over keys to tenants at the Devland Social Housing Project on Wednesday.
The project, which is also known as the Bokamoso project, is situated along the Golden Highway Road in Devland Ext 28. It is aimed at providing affordable-rental residential housing to accommodate mixed-income households with gross income ranging from R2500 to R7500 per household per month.“The purpose of the event is to officially welcome the beneficiaries that will be moving in from the surrounding Wards 28 and 119 to occupy the 255 units in Phase 1 out of the total 568 units,” the city notes.
“While Mayor Mashaba recognises the urgent need for social housing that speaks to the needs of residents, the tenants will now enjoy the benefit of living in a safe and secure environment conducive for singles and families,” it adds.
