Water issues will once again take centre stage this March as the Department of Water and Sanitation embarks on its annual Water Month activities with the aim of highlighting the importance of water.
As always the issues and discussions will intensify during Nationl Water Week which is set to take place from the 18-24 March coinciding with World Water Day on 22 March. The theme for this year’s events looks at leaving no one behind and ensuring that everyone regardless of socio-economic status, creed, race or gender has access to safe water. The Department of Water says the events of this month come at an opportune time to highlight government’s responsibility to ensure that all citizens have access to clean water.Water security is one of the biggest challenges facing South Africa and the world. We kick off this Water Month with an infographic breaking down the theme for World Water Day 2019: Leaving no one behind.
