More parking space needed for the Gautrain | Infrastructure news

The Gautrain management agency is looking at solutions to the weekday parking issues at the various stations. One possible solution being evaluated is using private sector parking lots to increase parking capacity, so that weekly Gautrain commuters are all accommodated.

The Pretoria, Rhodesfield and Centurion station’s parking lots are being filled to the brim during the week as people use the train for their trips to work and back.

A document calling for tenders from firms interested in doing the study of the feasibility of private parking lots says the intention is to find available parking within 300 metres of Gautrain stations and along Gautrain bus routes.

Additional Gautrain bus routes may also be added in the future.
