R377 million contract awarded in Mozambique | Infrastructure news

The Nacala Corridor Project, is intended to provide a logistics solution for the transportation of coal mined at Moatize, in Tete province to the maritime terminal located in Nacala on the Indian Ocean, via a new 912km long railway corridor.

Kentz Engineers and Constructors Limitada have been awarded the contract to undertake the structural, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation erection and provide commissioning assistance required to construct the main stock yard equipment. Kentz will erect 13km of interconnecting belt conveyors as well as assemble and install circa 14,000 tonnes of equipment including tipplers, stackers, reclaimers and ship loaders.

The US$38m (R377 million) contract will see 700 Mozambique workers employed for the duration of the project which is scheduled to be completed in November 2014.
