The South African Cross Border Road Transport Agency (CBRTA), which issues and enforces road transport permits for cross-border movement of goods, has clarified its position on vehicle breakdowns.
If the vehicle holding the permit breaks down, and it is substituted with another vehicle, then an affidavit has be to be signed at the nearest police station, to confirm this what has transpired. If there is no signed affidavit on the substituting vehicle, CBRTA will issue a fine for it not having a permit.
