Construction of the port at Pemba begins in 2015 | Infrastructure news

The new port at Pemba, in Mozambique’s Cabo Degado province is due to begin in 2015.

Tavares Martinho, director at state owned company ENH Logistics said, “The port will have a 300 metre dock capable of receiving ships with a maximum draught of 12 metres and a variety of other facilities on a 36-hectare plot.”

“It will be funded by Orlean Invest from Nigeria which has extensive experience in developing logistic terminals catering for the oil and gas industry.”

An environmental impact study is underway in Pemba, and once complete work will begin on opening up access roads so that in January 2015 work can start on the logistics hub.
