Negotiations are underway to revive the rubber factory “Manufactura de Borracha” (Mabor) of Mozambique, which has been closed for over a decade.
According to Panguene Apolinario, president of Mozambique’s state stake-holding group Igepe, there are two companies, one from South Africa and the other from China which are vying to reopen the factory. He would not say who these companies are. Before its closure, Mabor manufactured tyres that, in addition to being sold in the Mozambican market, were also exported to Europe and African countries.
