Volvo Group Southern Africa has officially opened a new Volvo Used Truck Centre in Boksburg, Gauteng, a stone’s throw from its head office and regional distribution centre.
Speaking at the official opening on Wednesday, 20 May, Christian Coolsaet, Managing Director of Volvo Trucks SA said: “The Volvo Group has always been in the used trucks business. This new facility will add a lot of focus to this very important aspect of our business. “As with our other Renault and Volvo products, the Volvo used trucks centre will offer customers the same peace of mind, the same quality standards and the same world-class support.” A dedicated team has been assembled to serve the unique needs of used truck buyers and evaluate the vehicles that are to be bought and sold. “Harold (Donachie) is heading up a fantastic, dedicated team of specialists that will handle the customer interface. [The team will] provide the same quality experience that our customers are used to,” he assured. Coolsaet said the company would provide competitive trade-in deals for all makes of trucks, regardless of brand.“Part of the dealership function is to facilitate the trade-in of all truck makes,” he continued. “Buying a truck from our Volvo Used Trucks Centre will always be a good deal, as all the vehicles on the floor have undergone stringent inspections and adhere to a number of pre-determined criteria. That is why we are experiencing strong demand from markets up North and in the broader African region.
“Over the past couple of years, we have seen a number of new entrants enter the South African market and people are often looking for an affordable, high quality, reputable truck. This is the space we want to operate in, as we are able to provide operators with the opportunity of owning a pre-owned, premium brand truck with low mileage in good condition – and with the Volvo stamp of approval,” he added. Market values for used trucks brought into the Volvo Used Trucks Centre are determined by in-house appraisers, who evaluate the units extensively. Prices offered are guided by market-related values. “Together with our colleagues and partners at Volvo Financial Services (VFS), we are also able to offer competitive truck financing for used trucks,” he said. He promised that all units sold by the Volvo Used Truck Centre would be in good operating condition. “As always, like in every aspect of our business, we work closely with customers during the buying process to gather their input and to ensure that the trucks are subsequently prepared to meet their expectations. “Our used trucks business has always been aligned with the Volvo Group’s vision to be a leader in sustainable transport solutions by creating value for our customers,” he concluded.
