Namibia launches trade information portal | Infrastructure news

Namibia has launched a Trade Information Portal that brings together accurate information regarding customs procedures and processes, as well as trade controls from various Government agencies closer to the national, regional and international trade community.

The Portal will ensure that all trade within the country is facilitated effectively by providing all traders (importers or exports) access to valid information, including the different types of required documentation.

The web-based platform will see the government regularly publish trade regulatory information from various offices, ministries and agencies.

The recent launch of the Portal represents the culmination of more than 18 months of collaboration between various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance’s Customs and Excise department, the US Embassy and USAID’s Southern Africa Trade Hub, as well as the Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG).

The Trade Hub said the principal objective of the Portal was to design and develop a website on which government could publish trade regulatory information from all offices, ministries and agencies that impose controls on Namibian trade.

The Portal also features information on trade-related upcoming events, news and announcements. According to the Southern Africa Trade Hub, the portal will provide a single, authoritative source representing all (government offices) and should significantly reduce the effort and time required for traders to access the information and documentation required for trade.

The Portal can be accessed by visiting: www.namibiatradeinformationportal.gov.na
