Online logistics portal launched | Infrastructure news

The newly launched Logistic Directory is a live, central repository that allows consumers to contact freight companies and match their logistic needs with reputable transport suppliers.

“As a consumer, having to find a logistics solution is an arduous task that includes finding the right supplier, contacting them for quotes, following up and then hoping that the service will be reliable and affordable,” explains Lelanie Prinsloo, CEO of Logistic Directory.

The directory can be used to find relevant companies, establish who they are, what they do and what their service level agreement and standard operating procedures are. In this way, it eliminates the prospect of hours of online and/or telephonic research and enquiry. The Live Site feature allows users to check for daily specials from logistic companies.

Once on the site, users can select speciality slots, including for courier services (0-10kg), express freight (10 – 10 000kg), automotive freight, transport (10 tons to 36 tons), abnormal freight, refrigerated trucks, e-commerce, hazardous freight, furniture removal, warehousing and distribution, international freight forwarding and airfreight.

Users enter the type of goods they need to transport, the freight’s current destination and its arrival destination and then hit the search button to suggest suitable suppliers and service providers.

According to Prinsloo, a primary driver for launching the website was to simplify logistics across the board while presenting the logistics industry with a businesses opportunity to fill trucks, underutilised routes and aircraft.
