French group Total plans to build a fuel terminal in Nacala, in Mozambique’s Nampula province.

A public presentation of the environmental impact took place a few days ago, according to Mozambican newspaper Notícias.

The project, to be built on a plot measuring three hectares, will require an investment of $15 million, according to figures released at the presentation.

According to reports, the terminal will be built in an area adjacent to other oil companies Puma Energy, Petromoc, African Petroleum and BP. Fuel is to be transferred from tankers to storage tanks through a 6km pipeline.

It is believed that the terminal will increase trade and contribute to the growth of Nacala-Porto, declared a Special Economic Zone by the Mozambique government.

Last week, Engen announced plans for a new fuel terminal in Beira.
