Rush to disrupt local courier industry? | Infrastructure news

Powered by WeChat, Rush enables users to compare couriers, including prices and delivery services – in real-time – using a mobile device, and allows one to book, pay for and track parcel deliveries.

The value proposition of Rush is built on aggregating numerous couriers who can then be chosen based on their reputation, price or delivery time, with payments made directly from a phone or tablet, via a secure payment gateway.

The service is currently affiliated to Courier Guy, Courier IT, Skynet, RTT and Globeflight. Participating couriers have been vetted and strict service level agreements are in place.

Included is the option to take insurance on parcels, which is underwritten by Hollard while customer support is provided from a call centre.

Large-scale services, designed for businesses that courier more than 200 parcels per month, are also catered for. This business service can be operated from any PC and includes discounted rates and favourable payment terms.

“There is no need for paper contracts and waybills and users can transact securely, streamlining the payment process,” says Glenn Whittaker, founder and CEO of Rush South Arica.
