Rand Water To Implement 56-Hour Project To Divert The G20 Pipeline For City Power To Expand Mondeor Substation | Infrastructure news

Rand Water will be implementing a fifty-six (56) hour project to relocate its G20 Pipeline to allow City Power to expand its Mondeor Substation in Johannesburg. The diversion project will commence on 10 October from 06h00 and anticipated to be completed on 12 October 2024 at 14h00.

The implementation of the project is in line with the agreement that was signed between the two entities (Rand Water and City Power). City Power has requested Rand Water to relocate the G20 Pipeline which runs near its Mondeor Substation. The G20 Pipeline supplies water from the Zwartkopies Pumping Station, via Johannesburg South to some parts of Soweto. The diversion of the pipeline and its connection will result in water supply disruptions to areas supplied by this pipeline. Johannesburg Water will communicate specific areas that will be impacted and the extent and impact of water supply disruptions. Rand Water has formally informed the affected customers by issuing a 21-day notice to allow them to implement appropriate contingency measures.
