Hydro expert, Jimmy Goulding joins Aurecon | Infrastructure news

Jimmy Goulding recently joined Aurecon’s Energy Unit in Cape Town as an Electrical Technologist who, together with this team, will enable Aurecon to deliver comprehensive services in hydro throughout Africa.

His key focus will be to support Aurecon’s growing involvement in hydropower projects in Africa through his extensive hydro electrical and protection experience.

“Africa has always been seen as a continent of untapped hydro energy potential and this appointment further allows Aurecon to provide an in-depth and comprehensive technical hydropower service to our clients,” said Paul Nel, Service Leader for Renewables.

The International Energy Agency has forecast that hydropower could double its global energy contribution by 2050 and that much of this growth will occur in emerging economies.

There are manyopportunities for hydropower developments in South Africa and in emerging economies such as Angola, Tanzania, Nigeria and other African countries.

“There is also significant potential for hydropower developments in Asia, particularly in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.” said Paul.

Paul added that Aurecon’s worldwide footprint allows our teams to tap into a wealth of global expertise to support the delivery of localised solutions anywhere in the world.
