With 20 years’ experience in groundwater, Hugh Klein has joined SRK Consulting in Johannesburg as Principal Consultant in the group’s water department.

Hugh has worked mainly in projects and investigations involving large diameter, deep-well drilling and installation, as well as in-situ hydrogeologic characterisation.

His work has included managed aquifer recharge (MAR) projects for mine dewatering operations in Australia, as well as deep injection well projects in the United States for the disposal of brine concentrate from reverse osmosis water treatment plants.

He has MSc degrees in both geology and engineering, and his expertise also encompasses exploratory and production well drilling, geophysical testing and analysis of formations, well design and aquifer testing.
