Captain Nick Sloane at SAAFF Congress | Infrastructure news

One of the greatest seafarers today is neither a naval commander nor an old salt merchant mariner, but a certain marine salvage master with a taste for chaos and a knack for improvisation.

He is a burly South African by the name of Captain Nick Sloane. His job is to intervene where other captains have failed, and to make the best of ships that are sinking, burning, breaking apart, or severely aground. It is Sloane’s job to board troubled vessels and salvage what he can. Against significant odds, he recently re-floated the doomed Costa Concordia cruise ship.

Sloane, a humanist and known genius in improvisation will share his expert knowledge and experience on leadership, managing diverse teams, strategy, vision, risk, adventure and embracing change at this year’s SAAFF Congress.

The freight forwarding industry is facing major changes as it fights to stay viable in a changing global environment. For freight forwarders to survive – and thrive – a major paradigm shift is needed. This is what this year’s congress will focus on.

The congress will run alongside a two-day industry supplier exhibition, with exhibitors showcasing products and services for the freight forwarding industry.
