Airbus A350 touches down at OR Tambo | Infrastructure news

Ethiopian Airlines’ Airbus A350 made its first flight to O. R. Tambo International Airport on Friday, July 22, 2016.

The aircraft was met by senior officials from the Department of Transport, Airport’s Company South Africa (ACSA), members of the airport community and the travel trade. Journalists including aviation specialists and reporters from various media outlets also attended the welcoming ceremony.

Following the traditional water cannon salute, guests boarded the aircraft and interacted with the crew, taking notes and photographs of the special features of the aircraft. Speaking at the event, Joe Mujapelo, special advisor to the minister of Transport, applauded the success of Ethiopian Airlines in acquiring and introducing the ultra-modern aircraft to African skies. He also appreciated the sound business model of the flag carrier.

A cake cutting ceremony was also held to mark the occasion.
