Six awesome apps for engineers - Part 1 | Infrastructure news

There’s an app for almost everything we do in our daily lives and keeping up with what’s trending isn’t always an option for those working in the infrastructure industry. With this in mind we bring you a list of six awesome apps for engineers.

AutoCAD 360

AutoCAD 360 is an easy-to-use drawing and drafting mobile app, available on Android and Apple, which allows you to view, edit, and share AutoCAD drawings—anytime, anywhere.

Some of the viewing tools include opening 2D and 3D DWG drawings and upload them to your AutoCAD360 account online, work offline and upload changes when you get back online, upload and open files directly from email on your device and see all aspects of your DWG file, including external references, layers, and image underlays.

Editing tools allow you to draw and edit shapes with accuracy using Snap, select, move, rotate, and scale objects and add and edit text annotations directly on your drawing; no need for paper mark-ups.

HVAC Professional

HVAC Professional Formulator, available on Apple and Android, includes all 200 formulas of the HVAC Fomulator and adds 18 charts, as well as the complete International Mechanical Code.

It has a variety of sections including air change, airside, boilers, BTU conversions, ductwork, energy values, heating design, heating requirements, humidity, loads, pumps, steam, temperature, waterside systems, and area calculations.

Engineering Professional

This app is a good reference tool for any engineering student as it combines over 650 formulas in chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, hydrology, and mechanical engineering that allow engineers to determine everything from calculations on shafts to calculation on loads on beams.

In addition, there are 100 conversion formulas, as well as a section for determining area formulas.
