6000 sqm warehousing facility secured for South African Express Line | Infrastructure news

South African Express Line (SAEL), a member of the Bolloré group of companies, has signed a lease with Broll Property Group, part of the CB Richard Ellis Affiliate Network, and Growthpoint Properties, on a 6 000 square metre facility at 25 Prospecton Road, Durban, aimed at serving its telecommunications network supplier customers.

Bolloré Africa Logistics is a fully integrated network which comprises 228 owned offices in 43 countries.

Bolloré operations director Fergus Fitch says, “The facility is an addition to an existing portfolio of 18 000 square metres of dedicated hi-tech and telecoms-specific warehousing.

“The warehouse’s strategic positioning in Durban, close to the N2 and N3 highways and within the zone 2 fuel radius is strategic. Its positioning in relation to the port made this site the best available in terms of size and price. It will act as a logistics hub to service Bolloré’s local and African networks.”

Anthon van Weers, industrial property specialist at Broll, says, “With Durban’s advantageous location, acceptance as an international gateway and transportation assets, the region is emerging as a new distribution and logistics powerhouse.”

The Bolloré group’s telecoms footprint now extends to 100 000 square metres of dedicated warehousing for the group’s strategic clients, which includes multi-national telecoms network equipment suppliers. Bolloré manages its clients’ complete supply chain from orders through to clearing, warehousing and forwarding.

“The new warehouse is a key element in the supply chain model designs for our clients and offers additional options at a competitive price,” Fitch says.
