Train line in Joburg closed for 60 days | Infrastructure news

The train between the Leralla and Limindlela stations in Johannesburg will not run for 60 days because of construction, Metrorail said on Friday.

“This essential work will involve rebuilding the formation of the rail lines which includes the installation of sufficient drainage systems to improve train service levels,” the train company said in a statement.

“During the construction period scheduled to start from 4 June 2012 to 4 August 2012, the train service will be disrupted and delays can be expected.”

The Limindlela and Oakmoor stations would be used as temporary stations where all trains would stop and turn back. Commuters were advised to make alternative transport arrangements during this period.
