No SA citizens on doomed Nigerian plane | Infrastructure news

President Jacob Zuma sent condolences to Nigeria after more than 150 people were killed in a plane crash, the department of international relations said on Monday.

“We join the government and the people of Nigeria in mourning this tragic loss of life,” Zuma said in a statement issued by the department.

A domestic passenger plane crashed into a heavily populated area of Lagos on Sunday evening.

The Dana Airlines flight was carrying 153 people and more people on the ground were thought to have been killed.

Zuma sent the message to the families and friends of those who lost loved ones.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time of mourning and sadness.”

No South Africans were known to have died in the plane crash.

“By Monday morning (June 4), the South African mission in Nigeria did not report any South African casualties as a result of the plane crash,” the department said.
