Ashok Leyland supplies 100 Falcon buses in Ghana | Infrastructure news

Commercial vehicle maker Ashok Leyland has supplied 100 Falcon buses to Ghana in an order worth USD 7.6 million.

These vehicles were inducted into the fleet of Metro Mass Transit, a transport company, in which Ghana’s government holds 45% stake, for inter and intra-city applications across 360 routes there, the Hinduja Group company said.

“Africa has been one of our key focus markets and presents some very unique opportunities for a commercial vehicle manufacturer like us,” MD Vinod Dasari said in a statement.

The 100 buses were customised into 57-seater, left-hand drive buses to meet specific customer requirements, it said.

This is the second major order Ashok Leyland has bagged in Ghana. It had supplied 160 waste management trucks there last year.

Ashok Leyland has also supplied buses to Nigeria for the Bus Rapid System in Lagos and last week announced an order from Bangladesh Road Transport Corp to provide 50 vestibule buses there.

Ashok Leyland shares were up 1.3% at Rs 26.95 on NSE in morning trade on Monday.
