Nedbank has partnered with the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa to set up branches at railways stations.
The first branch was unveiled to the public at the Cape Town station, which is used by about one million train, bus and taxi commuters a day.The Cape Town station has undergone an extensive upgrade at a cost of R480million to increase the flow of passengers it can handle and bring more tourism to the region.
More branches are expected at railways stations countrywide.
Nedbank’s Dave Schwegmann said: “We understand that making banking accessible to all South Africans will require sustainable partnerships with government and communities to ensure we provide access to an estimated 23million customers with no bank accounts.”
