Angola’s Minister for Urbanism and Construction, Fernando Fonseca Tuesday inaugurated three sections of road with a total of 301 kilometres in the province of Kuando Kubango, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
The Menongue/Caiundo section, in the international corridor linking Angola to Namibia via the Katuitui border post, which is 133 kilometres long, was built by Portuguese company Zagope – Construções e Engenharia, between July 2008 and March of this year. The Menongue/Cuelei River section, which links the capitals of the provinces of Kuando Kubango and Bié, extending over 75 kilometres, was built by Edifer Angola, a subsidiary of Portuguese group Edifer, between October 2007 and December 2011.Portuguese company Zagope – Construções e Engenharia also built the third section of road between Menongue and Cuchi, linking the provinces of Kuando Kubango and Huíla, between September 2008 and last June.
Construction work on these three roads included land mine removal and brush clearing , as well as paving, drainage, and signage.
