The cost of doing business in East Africa still remains high, driven by the high cost of transport.Thats according to a research conducted by the Kenya shippers council, which indicates that cost of transporting goods within the east african region is 70 percent higher than in the western world and 30 percent higher than South Africa.
This situation has been attributed to the delay in clearing and forwarding of cargo at the port of Mombasa, according to Gilbert Lang’at the chief executive officer Kenya shippers council there is need for harmonization of other means for transport,to ease cost of transportation by road.
