Mozambican exports up 19 percent in 2011 | Infrastructure news

Mozambican exports increased by whopping 19 percent in 2011 to the amount of US$2.7 billion.

According to the Export Promotion Institute (IPEX), this impressive increase in exports was mainly due to the sale of Mozal aluminium, electricity, gas, tobacco, shrimp and agricultural products.

Netherlands, South Africa, Portugal, China and Zimbabwe received a large majority (more than 70 percent) of Mozambican’s exports.

Mozambique also exports to India, Malawi, Spain, Italy and Kenya.

IPEX likewise indicated that Mozambican imports totalled US$4.6 billion in 2011.
