A new manager at Plastics SA is appointed | Infrastructure news

Plastics|SAis proud to welcome Isabelle Brettenny as the new regional training manager for the Western Cape, with effect from 1 March 2013. Isabelle will be based at the Maitland office.

Education and career highlights

She obtained her Bachelor of Arts (Social Sciences) at the University of Cape Town. Prior to joining Plastics|SA, she was national training manager for Master Currency Foreign Exchange, a position that she held for 13.5 years, and senior training and development facilitator with Bidvest Bank for 2.5 years.

Goals for the industry

Brettenny says she is excited about her new position as training manager, as it will afford her the opportunity to be part of an industry that in the past few years has seen fast-paced growth, advancement in technology and brilliant innovation. “In terms of honesty and integrity, I believe the ethics of Plastics|SA mirror my own. Being part of the growth and transition of this industry is a great honour, ”she says.

Looking ahead at what the future holds, Isabelle says she hopes to be instrumental in providing optimal support to the South African plastics industry by ensuring that skills development is of superior quality within the context of industry training, thereby contributing to the economic growth of the Western Cape and ultimately South Africa.

“Besides my focus on increasing Plastics|SA’s strategic role in skills development I will also support our environmental initiatives, highlighting the importance of taking responsibility for our environment on a day to day basis.” she says.

Personal

Sheis married to Eugene Brettenny, a senior sales engineer at Air Products SA, who she describes as being “the most supportive husband in the world”. An adrenaline junkie by nature, she has already bridge jumped twice in Mossel Bay and in the Tsitsikamma Forest, and recently completed a one-day river-kayaking trip on the Breede River.

Other than that, her friends and family describe her as being a gracious hostess with outstanding culinary skills, an intelligent conversationalist with a keen sense of humour and a Godly spirit.
