Osborn - Breaking the construction market | Infrastructure news

Make way for the new BX and BXR hydraulic rock breaker range distributed by Johannesburg-based Osborn on behalf of its sister company, Canada-based BTI. Since 2001, Osborn has been supplying hydraulic rock breakers to the African mining, construction and aggregate industries, achieving substantial growth and demand for the product. “The next step in our strategy is to capitalise on opportunities in the construction and demolition markets, where there is potential for quality hydraulic rock breakers,” says Casper Booyse, product sales manager at Osborn.

With regard to construction and demolition applications, the BTI breaker can simply be fitted as an attachment onto a suitable hydraulic carrier – from excavators and mini-excavators to TLBs, skid steers and loaders. There are two ranges of BTI breakers, each offering different energy ratings and designed for use on different size carriers. The BX Hydraulic Breaker series includes eight models ranging from an energy rating of 550 Jfor the BX4 to 5 400 J for the BX40.They can be fitted onto smaller equipment, for carriers up to 20 t.The larger BXR Series includes six models ranging from an energy class of 6 800 J for the BXR50 to the mighty BXR160, with an energy class of 21 500 J. This series is suitable for 20 to 100 t carriers. A unique feature is the narrow nose design, which enhances visibility as well as minimal over-breaking in trenching applications.

Purchasing this equipment through Osborn will guarantee local customers 24/7 after-sales support, back-up services and spares. “In addition, Osborn engineers are able to undertake on-site repairs,” Booyse concludes.
