The Misa technical bursary programme: applications for the 2014 academic year now open.
The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) is a government component accountable to the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) established in terms of Section 7(2) Schedule 3 of the Public Service Act of 1994 (as amended). One of the primary functions of MISA is to build the technical capacity of municipalities to undertake efficient planning, delivery, operations and management of municipal infrastructure. MISA strives for excellence in developing a pipeline of young Built Environment professionals and is hereby inviting applications for bursaries to interested individuals who wish to undertake undergraduate academic studies towards a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in the fields of Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Town and Regional Planning as well as Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Whilst the programme is not exclusively limited to individuals from previously disadvantaged communities, MISA will give preference to qualifying candidates from rural areas as well as households with a combined total annual income of less than R120 000. Eligibility: Matriculants meeting the minimum requirements or qualifying students in their 1st, 2nd 3rd or 4th year of study; Applicants must be South African citizens. Applicants must have already been enrolled or eligible for enrolment with the relevant tertiary institution.
