The African Energy Indaba now has invitation-only events | Infrastructure news

The 6th African Energy Indaba kicked off yesterday in Johannesburg. This year, in addition to its programme, it offers informal, invitation-only, off-the record discussions.

These high-level discussions dubbed the Energy Leaders’ Dialogues provide an intimate setting where energy champions can discuss pressing energy issues.

Topics to be covered include:

  • how to best address the “energy trilemma” (the three challenges of energy security, social equity and environmental impact mitigation)
  • shale gas development in South Africa
  • South Africa’s electricity crisis.
The dialogues will be co-hosted by Secretary-General of the World Energy Council Dr Christoph Frei, Chief Executive Officer of Eskom Brian Dames, former CEO and chairperson of Duke Energy Corp Jim Rogers, and Executive Chairperson of the Global Electricity Initiative Philippe Joubert.

More about African Energy Indaba

The indaba brings together international and continental experts to share their insights and solutions to Africa’s energy crisis, as well as to explore the energy development opportunities in Africa.

Delegates come from across the continent to attend what has become known as the business networking forum of choice for energy industry players on the continent. The conference is the forum for delegates to debate and exchange solutions to Africa’s energy challenges, whilst the exhibition component is a significant marketplace for African and international stakeholders looking for and doing business in Africa’s energy sector.
