A single customs centre set up in East Africa | Infrastructure news

The establishment of a single customs and immigration centre at the Songwe-Kasumulu border between Tanzania and Malawi is being set up aimed at boosting trade and cementing bilateral relations between the two countries.

Saada Mkuyu Salum, Tanzania’s Minister of Finance says, “African countries ought to trade between themselves to bring about development growth, rather than depend on unreliable aid from development partners.”

“The establishment of the single customs and immigration centre at the Songwe-Kasumulu border will not only reduce the costs of doing business, but will also cement the existing bi-lateral relations  between the two countries.”
