The Minister of Transport has announced the names of the non-executive members of the Board of the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA).
Appointed to the board for three years, effective from 1 April 2014 are Pamela Pokane (chairperson), Reuaben Dlamini, Gordon Noah, Moses Scott and Wayne Smith. Re-appointed to the board are Maleho Nkomo (deputy chairperson) and Nala Mhlongo.The C-BRTA is a national public entity established in terms of the Cross-Border Road Transport Act, 1998. Its mandate is to improve the flow of freight and passengers in the region; introduce regulated competition in cross-border road transport; reduce operational constraints for the cross-border road transport industry as a whole; improve and strengthen the capacity of the public sector in support of its strategic planning and monitoring functions and empower the cross-border road transport industry to maximize business opportunities.
The board’s function is to ensure the C-BRTA achieves the objectives as outlined in the ACT along with controlling its financial position, operations and management.
