Half of China’s foreign aid coming to Africa | Infrastructure news

No pre-conditions have been attached to China earmarking half of its foreign aid to Africa.

This was announced by the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang whilst at the World Economic Forum on Africa in Nigeria at the beginning of May.

The Chinese premier pledged that Beijing will help Africa develop its networks of high-speed railways, expressways and regional airports, including infrastructure and transportation networks.

Referring to an African “dream of the century” as depicted by African Union (AU) Commission Chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma to connect African capitals with high-speed railways, Li said China stands ready to help Africa achieve this dream.

Li also pledged to strengthen China-Africa cooperation in green and low carbon development and make sure the Chinese enterprises operating in Africa fulfil their social responsibilities.

He was on his first African tour and also visited Angola, Ethiopia and Kenya.
