Ships of up to 80,000 tons at Port of Maputo | Infrastructure news

Once dredging begins at Port of Maputo in July, the depth of the access channel to the port will increase from 11 to 14 metres. This will allow the port to receive larger draught ships.

Gabriel Muthisse, Mozambique’s Transport and Communications Minister, says, “The port of Maputo will become more competitive in relation to other ports in the region as the shipping lines will be able to establish routes between Maputo and large cargo hubs as the port will be able to receive ships weighing up to 80,000 tons.”
