The Tanzanian government, in an effort to improve water supply for industrial and domestic consumption, aims to spend SH140 billion on projects in the Tanga and Kilimanjaro regions.

According to Prof. Jumanne Maghembe, at least 38 villages in Mwanga, Same and Korogwe districts in Kilimanjaro and Tanga regions will be include in the project.

“The projects will involve taping water from Nyumba ya Mungu to those villages,” the minister pointed out. “Water shortage in Mwanga will be history,” he said.

A total of 23 contractors have applied for a job and screening is currently underway to pinpoint three who will undertake the projects.

“The projects will commence in September this year after getting qualified contractors,” he said.
