Style & Craft Paving has paved Dainfern Valley Estate | Infrastructure news

Style & Craft Paving, which is celebrating its 26 year anniversary in 2014, was contracted to lay the paving at Dainfern Valley Estate. So far a total of 231 000 Cederberg PA pavers from Corobrik have been used in a Stretcher Bond pattern with another 63 600 pavers ordered to complete the next phase.

Style & Craft Paving started the project in November 2012. Keith Turner explains that, on top of the 5 259m2 of walkways currently in place, the company has also been contracted to complete ‘Vincent Park’ and the ‘Green Belt’, amounting to another 1,1km of paving.
Turner notes that the Cederberg clay pavers are the pavers of choice for the estate. “These had already been used on the walkways along some of the roads, and the quality of the pavers matches the beauty and upmarket nature of the estate.”

Clay pavers are earthy and have a long life-span, and being clay with its inherent colour fastness and hard wearing nature. The Stretcher Bond pattern works well from a practical point of view as it looks neat, easily following the contour of the paths, and as Turner points out, once laid, Stretcher Bond pavers are aesthetically pleasing and give the impression of an elongated path. An added advantage is that there is no wastage of pavers.

For future maintenance in the estate underneath the pathways, the clay pavers have the benefit of being able to be lifted and re-laid without any damage.

Turner says that paving is a science and a costly exercise that cannot be taken lightly. “Reputable, established paving companies like Style & Craft Paving, who have been in the business for 26, years are constantly having to repair badly laid paving. We would therefore like to see every paving company as a member of the Master Builders Association as this would give the consumer confidence and recourse in the building and paving industry.

The Johannesburg based company is also currently busy with the walkways in Bushwillow Park Estate in Greenstone.
