An illustrated lecture on Structural Drainage by Kaytech’s Julian Maastrecht has recently been accredited by SAICE for CPD. Geosynthetics have been used in subsoil drains in South Africa since 1972 and the lecture presents theoretical information and practical applications of the various geosynthetic systems available.
The lecture content will be beneficial for Structural- and Civil Engineers and technicians as well as Architects and Quantity Surveyors and the lecture is presented free of charge to professionals in the engineering fields. The 1 hour (0.1 CPD credits for ECSA registered persons) programme covers:

2. A practical design worked example
3. Subsoil drainage behind retaining walls – Products and applications with advantages & disadvantages of each.
4. Subsoil drainage under floors – Products and applications with advantages & disadvantages of each.
5. Lightweight geocomposites drainage systems to roof gardens and planters – Practical lightweight solution that offers added waterproofing protection.
6. Septic tank and storm water attenuation systems – A new approach using HDPE tunnel formers instead of stone leachfields & soak pits.
