First new models taken into operation | Infrastructure news

Zambia’s Time Trucking is one of the first fleet operators in southern Africa to take delivery of the new Volvo Trucks FH model.

Three of these models join the company’s fleet of 54 Volvo Trucks which are used to transport freight and goods to Malawi, Mozambique and South Africa.

A subsidiary, Time Commercial Motors Limited is also an accredited Volvo agent in Zambia, and thus responsible for the maintenance and service of Volvo fleets in the region.

Time Trucking was established in 2001 by its current managing director, Umesh Patel, who personally evaluates each driver. The company’s drivers all receive basic training from Volvo Trucks as well as refresher training at an academy in Zambia.

Patel says,”Employees’ skills development remains a priority and prerequisite of achieving the highest professional standards in their operations.”

“We always aims to provide the best service on time, all the time,” said Patel. “We also don’t compromise when it comes to quality. That is the reason that we always choose Volvo Trucks. If you want to be the best, then you have to have the best trucks and the best people.”

Torbjörn Christensson, president of the Volvo Group SA says, “Volvo Trucks SA is proud to be associated with a regional fleet operator of Time Trucking’s calibre. We believe that the southern African region holds untold potential and we are therefore committed to contribute to its successful development by providing products and services that suit southern Africa’s very unique business and operating conditions.”

Time Trucking took ownership of three new FH 520HP 6×4 truck-tractor trucks, with high chassis height and B-ride. Taking the company’s long-haul operations in mind, driver comfort and safety play are always a priority.
