The price of diesel is set to drop by 13 cents a litre on Wednesday 1 October.
At the same time the Department of Energy says petrol 95 Octane will also decrease by five cents. However petrol 93 Octane will increase by two cents. South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis and are informed by international and local factors.According to the department, the reasons for the fuel price changes are mainly due to the decrease in the price of crude oil which lead to a decrease in the prices of petroleum products (petrol, diesel, Illuminating Paraffin and LPG) in the international markets as well as the depreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar on average when compared to the previous period.
The slate levy remains unchanged at zero, in line with the self-adjusting slate mechanism, said the department.
