There are still a few seats left at the 6th Annual Road Safety Summit, which in the light of recent events on our roads is an important summit to attend for those serious about road safety.
The 6th Annual Road Safety Summit, is an objective platform for all road safety stakeholders to meet and discuss the future of promoting safer roads in South Africa. The main drive this year is to call upon all road safety stakeholders both in the public and private sector to come together and reach an MOU on how to benchmark and promote safer roads in South Africa. This year the event also features three international speakers via live video link from Sweden, Australia and Canada who’s regarded as operating some of the safest roads in the world. The MEC Weziwe Tikana, Eastern Cape Ministry of Transport and Safety Liaison will deliver the keynote address on how to promote road safety practices by public transport operators in an effort to reduce road incidents.Other confirmed speaker companies include, Department of Transport and Public Works Western Cape, Gauteng Department of Roads & Transport, National Prosecuting Authority, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Eskom, Justice Project South Africa (NPC) and Road Accident Fund.
Pertinent issues to be discussed include: Creating “one voice” across all provinces to promote road safety, promoting the visibility of road safety officials to effectively enforce their mandate, augmenting the role played by engineering foresight in promoting road safety, effective prosecution of traffic offenders, discussing the E-Toll system and its contribution to road infrastructure upgrades and safety, enforcing and implementing traffic calming techniques during high volumes just to name a few. The 6th Annual Road Safety Summit takes place between the 4 – 5 November 2014 at the CSIR in Pretoria.
