The Transnet National Ports Authority on Friday has said that it is anticipating disruption of business by berthing staff at the Port of Durban, starting today (12/01/2015) at 06:00.
“This,” said port manager, Moshe Motlohi, “is not a union matter, rather one of individuals who are unhappy with the current shift system. “A BCP (presumably a basic contingency plan. Ed) was activated on Friday afternoon – and alternative arrangements are being made to ensure that delays and disruptions are kept to a minimum.”While this would seem to only affect ship movement, past history would indicate that sympathy action is not unlikely, and port users should monitor what is happening at the port.
