Indian car maker looks to Africa for export growth | Infrastructure news

Maruti Suzuki – India’s largest car manufacturer – is looking to increase vehicle exports by 20% this fiscal year by focusing on increasing sales in Africa and the Middle East.

The company has exported 92 000 units to over 100 countries to date, in the current financial year. Maruti Suzuki said that this was achievable due to an increase in sales in non-European markets like Africa, Latin America and Middle East.

A company spokesperson was cited by Indian business daily, F.Business, as saying the company had also expanded its export fleet to meet the diverse needs of African and Middle Eastern consumers.

“We have moved forward from exporting small cars and have added models such as Swift, DZire, AltoK-10, Ertiga and Celerio which are helping us get good export numbers,” the spokesperson said.
