According to the SA Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (Sacci) December Trade Conditions Survey, South Africa’s non-seasonally adjusted Trade Activity Index (TAI) for December 2014 was four points above the TAI index for the same period in 2013.
The seasonally adjusted TAI lifted marginally to 56 compared to 54 in November 2014, Sacci announced on Friday.Improved retail sales volumes and an increase in vehicle sales compared to earlier in 2014 contributed to positive trade figures in the final quarter of last year.
The chamber said the positive outcome in December could be attributed to less disruption in electricity supply.
