Bidvest freight now RTMS Accredited | Infrastructure news

The road freight division of Bidvest Panalpina Logistics (BPL) has been awarded accreditation by the Road Transport Management System (RTMS).

RTMS supports the Department of Transport’s National Freight Logistics Strategy. The industry-led self-regulation scheme encourages consignees, consignors and transport operators engaged in the road logistics value chain to implement a vehicle management system that preserves road infrastructure, improves road safety and increases the productivity of the logistics value chain.

BPL Road freight collaborated with vehicle manufacturers to acquire specialised equipment that increases payloads, resulting in reduced trips and, therefore, a lower carbon footprint. The division’s management systems and technology allow testing and simulation of various vehicles, enabling it to design and acquire the right vehicle combination for the right job.

BPL road freight vehicles are fitted with CCTV cameras to assist in correcting driver behaviour. This says BPL, together with various other technologies, has resulted in a reduction of accidents and incidents.
