Minister of Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane, will meet with her counterpart in Botswana this weekend to discuss furthering the programme on shared watercourses.
The meeting forms part of the department’s efforts to harness its relationship with the neighbouring states through various Bilateral Agreements. Mokonyane will meet with Onkokame Kitso Mokaila, Botswana’s Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources for a joint commission on the cross border water supply project which will mainly benefit the Middlepits cluster of villages in Botswana.According to the department the project is already complete and neighbouring communities in the two countries started enjoying the fruits of this partnership in 2014.
The upcoming commission is to celebrate and applaud the great bilateral relationship between the two member states. The Minister of Water and Sanitation will be accompanied by officials from the Department’s Head office in Pretoria.
